This group is for members who self define as women, this is in line with the exemption under the Equality Act 2010 for services whereby there would be a barrier to engagement if it were not single-sex, and where it is to protect potential vulnerability of attendees.
Our Aim is to help improve social health of female students by reducing barriers to engagement
*help them connect with each other
*connect with women in their community
*try new things
*improve their wellbeing
We hope to meet in various locations in the SU, university, and surrounding cafes/parks to help provide variety and help bring local women and students together.
(Barriers to engagement, according to my women's research in Preston interviewing 134 women, were above all fear of attending alone, anxiety, financial costs, not enough variety of activities, fear of men, and didn't see advertising)
