Archery has a deep-rooted history in Britain, ever since 1066 when Duke William defeated King Harold at Hastings and the longbow was developed into a weapon of war. Though the introduction of firearms in the 15th century made the bow redundant as a weapon of war, it did not diminish a national following for archery as a recreational sport.
UCLan Archery was established in 2014, in the past five years we have managed to become one of the strongest teams in the north. We compete in British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS), NEAUL and external competitions across the country. We are also members of Archery GB, Lancashire Archery Association (LAA), Northern County Archery Society.
Archery is fully inclusive for all, just let us know what you require, and we will sort it :)
We train each Wednesday afternoon at Preston GrassHoppers Indoor Archery Range
Club kit is available for use, however, if you have it you can bring your own.
We also have social events happening throughout the year (both alcohol and non-alcohol related), these events are discussed by members, so any suggestions are welcome.
Do you fancy yourself as a modern-day Robin Hood or Merida? Do you want to learn to shoot as well as Katniss? Then why don’t you come along to one of our sessions?
We are always open to new archers.
You can also contact us on our Facebook group or Instagram.
