I'm Abi, and you might already know me as the Disabled Students’ Representative previously! I'm in the 3rd year of my Acting BA here and I'm delighted to represent you at the Students' Union.
I'm keen on advocating for inclusion and support and ensuring that your voices are heard. With my previous experience as a liberation rep, I am familiar with the Union and the importance of inclusive representation; as a previous course rep, I am also aware of the importance of academic representation. It's key to me all aspects are included and heard as part of your collective experience.
As someone in Arts and Media, I presented the idea to bring back the Media Factory cafe and got it successfully passed at Council. This is something I continue to work on and hope to see positive progress with. I'm determined on protecting resources for your courses, not only in the Arts, but across the University.
Now I’m fortunate to be your Students' Union Representative, my focus lies in your representation and finding ways we can improve the Union in empowering our diversity.
Within my current role, I'm campaigning for reasonable adjustments being met for you across the university. The process to apply for, and receive, reasonable adjustments should not be a chore and contribute to your difficulties. I will continue to proudly campaign for you, and communicate with university services about what you need, so you can access support easily and with positive outcomes.
It's important to me the Union creates and assists communities for you, specifically minority groups, studying here. As your Students' Union Representative, I would ensure communities are made and facilitated so there are safe spaces for you to feedback and contribute to change – but more importantly, to socialise and connect. Sharing cultures and identities strengthens our diverse body.
With my experience, enthusiasm and work-ethic, I can guarantee I will be productive and work effectively in your best interests.
