Key Dates & FAQS

Each year, we hold elections for students to vote on who they’d like to see lead the Students’ Union.

Every fully-enrolled UCLan student is automatically a member of the SU, which gives you the right to nominate yourself and vote in the SU Elections. There are loads of opportunities available to get involved; from full-time paid roles as our Elected Officers, to part-time voluntary positions, such as Students' Council and School Presidents. Nominations for Elections will open at 12pm on Monday 8th January until 12pm on Thursday 15th February . The manifesto deadline is 3pm on Friday 1st March. Voting will open at 9am on Monday 4th March and close at 3pm on Thursday 7th March. Election results will be announced on Friday 8th March at our Results Ceremony.

FAQs

Your Students’ Union is a student-led organisation, so it is incredibly important to us that each year we get current students to vote for the leaders of the organisation for the upcoming academic year. This means that we stay relevant to the current student body and work on the issues that matter to you!

Nominating yourself is easy- just log in with your UCLan email and password at https://www.uclansu.co.uk/elections and you will be able to see all the different roles you are eligible to put yourself forward for. If you have any issues, please email suelections@uclan.ac.uk and let us know which role you would like to stand for.

The Students’ Union has a flexible working policy and we always support our employees who have caring responsibilities. If you want to talk to us a bit more about how this would work, drop us an email at suelections@uclan.ac.uk.

Yes! All current students can stand in the elections and we will support you with your visa application if you are accepted.

Your official start date is 1st July, but if you are elected into one of the full-time officer roles, there will also be some training over summer from mid-June so please try to avoid booking any holidays at that time!

You can be in any year to nominate yourself for the full-time roles. If you aren’t graduating this year and get elected to one of the full-time posts, you will have to take a year out of your studies to fulfil the role- the Union and University will support you to do this.

You can only nominate yourself for one role out of each section:

Full-time officers, Students’ Council or School Presidents.

You can nominate yourself for a role in more than one section- for example School President and society committee member.

If you are unsure- get in touch at suelections@uclan.ac.uk.

Voting starts on Monday 4th March and runs until Thursday 7th March 2024. During this time, if you are enrolled on a UCLan course you will be able to cast your vote by logging in at with your UCLan email address and password. Struggling to vote? Email suelections@uclan.ac.uk as soon as you can and one of the team will be able to help.

When voting closes, the results will be announced W/C 11th March on our website.

Complaints about campaigning and candidate behaviour must be made in writing to the Returning Officer through suelections@uclan.ac.uk no later than one hour after the close of voting. Challenges to the results must be made in writing to the Returning Officer through suelections@uclan.ac.uk within 24 hours of the announcement of the results.
