Partner Institutions

While you may be one of the thousands of students who do not study at the main UCLan Campus in Preston, UCLan Students’ Union is still your union and it is important for you to make the most of what we offer. Any student registered at UCLan automatically becomes a member of the Union and therefore able to use all of the services we provide.

Students lead our organisation through the annually elected Student Affairs Committee, also known as the SAC (who act as Trustees) and the Students’ Council. The Student Affairs Committee all have individual roles but as a team they are collectively responsible for promoting and defending the rights of students, campaigning on issues and promoting involvement in the Union.

Every year we hold elections to elect five student officers to represent you. By electing our officers we ensure students are at the heart of our decision making, and the goals the Union works towards year-on-year and week-to-week. Any student can get elected. If you want to make sure UCLan is as good as it can be just keep an eye on the promotional material online and on campus!

Students have access to the Advice and Representation Centre with professionally-trained staff who can provide you with independent advice on issues including housing matters, course problems and money worries. If you need help you can contact the Advice and Representation Centre at any time by emailing suadvice@uclan.ac.uk.

Each of our partner intuitions also operates some form of Course Reps system where students elect another student to represent their course at meetings held with staff throughout the academic year.  We work with our partners to ensure course reps have equal access to all course rep support materials as well as the opportunity to participate in our Student-Led Teaching Awards. Information on training for partner institution students can be found here and you can contact the staff responsible for facilitating this at any time by emailing coursereps@uclan.ac.uk.

Our Opportunities Centre is also here to help you gain new skills whether that is finding a part-time job, developing your employability skills, creating or joining a student-led society as well as finding volunteering opportunities around the local area. You can contact the Opportunities Centre at any time by emailing suopportunities@uclan.ac.uk.

We also offer four Student Media outlets including a student newspaper (Pluto), radio station (Frequency) and TV station (PSTV) which we encourage you to visit online. If you are interested you can volunteer for any of our outlets by simply emailing the Media Officer at sumedia@uclan.ac.uk.
