Do you want to give back to the local community?

Do you want to improve your skills?

Are you short of time for regular volunteering?

Why not try volunteering at our One-off Wednesdays?!

This year the Inspiring Projects team are launching a brand new way of volunteering for UCLan SU students. We know you don’t all have the time to commit to a regular volunteering opportunity so One-off Wednesdays are for you to come along and volunteer as little as 30 mins of your time or as much as a whole afternoon!

Each Wednesday afternoon the volunteering will run from 12.30pm until approx. 4.00pm (although the end time will depend on the activity), and will be on a different topic or theme. You don’t need to attend all the volunteering sessions, just pick and choose the ones you like the sound of, or the ones you have time for.

We advise you to sign up as some of the opportunities will have maximum numbers, but this isn’t essential and for most of them you’ll simply be able to turn up and make a big difference in a small amount of time!

Each week you’ll be helping a different area of our local community, learning different skills, and getting a wide range of experience to add to your CV – plus you can use the time you volunteer towards the Livesey Award.

You can sign up for any live upcoming One-off Wednesday activities NOW here, or by clicking the links below.

11th April - Do you have IT skills? Female only volunteers needed to help Sahara which offers support for minority ethnic women in Preston

18th April - OOW volunteering social event: a chance for volunteers to get together and take part in Microvolunteering with                                                                                  free drinks and nibbles!

All volunteers will be given a FREE t-shirt to wear when you take part in our activities so keep your eyes peeled for the opportunities you want to help with.

TIPs Talks

At UCLan Students’ Union one of our objectives as an organisation is to find new ways to inspire students, and new for 2018 we have asked a range of inspiring people to come in and speak to our students about something that interests them, in the hope that you will take something away which you can then implement in your own life.

The TIPs Talks will be in the form of a presentation by the speaker, followed by a Q&A and will last no longer than 1 hour so it won't be too much of a time-committment. Check out the workshops here and sign up for any that interest you as they are sure to be popular!
