A blog by your Womens’ Rep Ash Wolstenholme

Hi my name is Ash, we have created a book club to bring women within the university together, to be able to read about and discuss topics that affect us as a community. The main aim is to bring women together – and we can have important discussions as a result, that’s a bonus!

The Group will vote on the book we are going read for the following month and the list of authors and themes will be inclusive and diverse to reflect UCLan Students. Its really important for me that the group is collaborative, and all ideas are welcome.

Being a woman myself I know that sometimes on campus, not all women feel heard and seen – so its important to me to understand how women feel in and around campus – so I want to gain a better understanding of women’s experiences – so that I can better represent you. As one woman’s experience is not everyone’s.

I understand that some of these conversations are not easy to have, and that’s what I’d like to use the book club for, an informal easy way to engage whilst having fun and making friends.

The next book club is taking place on Tuesday 16 January, between 4:30pm - 6pm in Flintoff Room. You can find out more here
