Dust off your kits and slap on the blue face paint because VARSITY IS BACK! This year, it’s back on home turf and we’re ready to win our trophy back.  

But wait, what is Varsity? 

Varsity is the biggest sporting fixture in our calendar and is played at the end of the BUCS season against Edge Hill University’s Sports Clubs. We'll be going head-to-head in a range of sports, from football and netball, to rugby, basketball and more, with each fixture and event contributing to the final, overall score – and our Sports Clubs are ready for the hard fight towards victory! 

On the 29th March 2023, our Sports Clubs and Teams will be hosting Edge Hill to compete for this year’s Varsity trophy. Last year, we lost out by just a couple of points so we’re ready to go again. 

Most fixtures will take place either at Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre at the Preston Campus or at the UCLan Sports Arena. We’d love as many people as possible to come along and support our players! Varsity might be the perfect time to try watching a sport you don’t normally watch or for those of you who aren’t as sporty, supporting your fellow students.
