We’re celebrating #UCLanPride and have a day of activity planned to bring together the University and local community to recognise, celebrate and support our LGBTQ+ students and staff.

As your Students’ Union, we will always stand with the LGBTQ+ Community and be a safe, inclusive space where students can feel supported.

Although as a society, we have come far from when being LGBTQ+ was classed as a criminal act – we still have a long way to go. The LGBTQ+ Community still face daily struggles whether this be in their homes, at their place of education, where they work or in social settings. As a wider society and a university community, we need to create a space where people can be unapologetically themselves, we actively remove barriers and we both accept and celebrate individuality.

Pride is more than just a celebration, it’s also important we acknowledge the activists that fought for change and those that are still fighting for change in 2022. From our chosen Pride icons like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera who helped make history, to Nicola Adams and Jonathan Van Ness who are currently paving the way for future activists.

Join us on Thursday 22nd September for #UCLanPride at the Students’ Union:

Stalls, speeches and a service, bringing together the information you need to succeed as a member of the LGBTQ+ Community at UCLan.

If you’re looking for a more quiet Pride experience, come and join us for the viewing of an LGBTQ+ classic film – ‘Pride.’ We’ll have snacks and drinks so you can sit down, relax and enjoy the film.
