Vote SU Election 2024, deadline 7th March

This week is voting week and there’s tonnes of candidates campaigning for your votes. This is your opportunity to use your right to vote for who leads your Students’ Union.
Voting is your right and as a membership organisation, democracy is fundamental to the Union, how we’re run and what our priorities are.
You can vote for who you would like to see as your Full-Time Elected Officer Team (President, VP Education, VP Welfare and VP Activities) as well as; School Presidents and Students’ Council.

Read a student blog, by final year student Lucy, on why YOU should make your voice heard and vote in this years Elections!

Well already it’s coming up to voting season, can you believe it! There are lots of reasons why students should be voting in the SU elections, mainly it’s important to have someone in office that you feel represents you and your needs, as well as the student body as a whole. It is down to you to decide what issues are focused on for the next year at the University, and that’s a pretty big deal.

Here are the top reasons why you should consider voting in this years Elections:

  • Decide what issues you care about, and who will best represent them. This is your university experience. You have the chance to vote for someone you trust to deliver on their promises and ideas. It only benefits you!
  • It effects your education. Your degree at UCLan is one of your biggest investments, so you may as well make the most of it! You want the best people to be fighting for what you believe.
  • To get the most democratic result possible. The more people that vote in the SU elections, the more legitimate the results, and the issues that students have will be highlighted by what is voted for.
  • It’s so easy to vote! From anywhere, whatever you are doing, just hop online and you can vote from the comfort of your own bed
  • You could win a prize! That's right, the SU are giving away merch, pizzas and coffees! Read below to find out how you could be a lucky winner!

Voting is open from March 4th and will close at 3pm on the 7th! Results will follow on Friday 8th.

Make sure to look through the full candidate list and read their manifesto to make an informed decision on who you want representing you next year!

What to expect from Candidates
All candidates will campaign over the next few days and look for student to vote for them based on their manifesto and ideas. The candidates are briefed on elections guidance and rules in order for us to have a free and fair election for all. It's important student voters are aware of the rules and how to report an elections rule breach if you see or experience one. Find more info on the rules and reporting here.

How to Vote
Voting is done by a secret ballot. To vote, you will need to go to www.uclansu.co.uk/vote and log in to the Students' Union website. You can do this with the same details you log into the University's systems. When you're logged in and on the election's webpage, you will be able to see all the elections you're eligible to vote for, including the list of candidates and their manifestos. You can then cast your votes in order of preference to who you'd like to see elected. Once you're done, press complete and your vote will be cast! You're able to log back in and change your vote as many times as you like until voting closes.

Your vote is important and will help make a difference to your experience while you’re here at UCLan. To help encourage you to have your say, we thought a few free pizzas, merch and hot drinks on us might help…
