Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a period of National Mourning has now started across the United Kingdom.
The thoughts and condolences of everybody at UCLan Students’ Union are with the Royal Family and those affected during this difficult time.
National Mourning is a period of time for reflection in response to the demise of the Sovereign, or other member of the Royal Family or a very prominent person in national life. The National Mourning will continue until the end of the day of the State Funeral.
Freshers Events
As your Students’ Union, we remain committed to providing a welcoming and supportive experience for all our members, over Freshers Week and the welcome period.
However, to reflect the National Mourning and share our respects, there are some minor changes to our activities. Our planned Comedy Night on Wednesday 14th September will be postponed and we will be happening on Wednesday 21st September now instead We will also be reviewing our other events and activities to ensure they reflect this difficult time, but also still remain a space for students to come together and get involved.
On the day of the State Funeral, there will be no events taking place. Once we have confirmation of the date, we will be able to update students with what will happen and which events will be postponed.
In the meantime, all other Students’ Union Freshers events will go ahead as planned.
University Enrolment, Induction & Teaching
