A message from your VP Welfare, Odette:

"Food hardship is something that we know impacts a percentage of our students at UCLan. Unfortunately, the reality is that there are students who are facing financial difficulties to the point where they then struggle to feed themselves. 

We know that food is a necessity, and no one should have to worry about when and how they are going to get their next meal. 

That’s why we’ve put together a survey to find out how we can best support you. The purpose of this survey is to get an idea of to what extent food hardship affects our students and then hopefully get some provision in place to support those students suffering from food hardship.

It’s important to note that no one should have to suffer in silence. Without a healthy balanced diet, concentration levels decrease as well as a variety of other problems which can further impact your education and social life. 

As a Union our students come first, and we need you to help us, help you. Food hardship is something that affects not only your physical wellbeing but can also affect your mental wellbeing. This is why this survey is important; even if you are not directly impacted, if you know someone who is, that can also help us gauge how widespread this problem is."
