Description

Archery has a deep rooted history in Britain, ever since 1066 when Duke William defeated King Harold at Hastings and the longbow was developed into a weapon of war. Though the introduction of firearms in the 15th century made the bow redundant as a weapon of war, it did not diminish a national following for archery as a recreational sport.

UCLan Archers are the only Archery team at UCLan. Established in 2014 we compete at British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) events. We are also members of Archery GB, Lancashire Archery Association (LAA), Northern County Archery Society.

UCLan Archers welcome all members, regardless of gender, race, size, disability, age,or experience. We even have kit for lefties, so all are welcome!

We also have an Alumni team for Staff and Ex students, It's never too late to join!!!

We have four practice sessions a week:

Monday 6:00pm - 9:30pm
Wednesday 7:00pm – 9:30pm
Thursday 8:00pm – 9:30pm

Sometimes Saturday 2:00pm - 4:30pm

We meet outside the student union/essentials half an hour before practice to get a coach over to the arena.

Club kit is available for use, however if you have it you can bring your own. Uniforms for competition are also available to buy on the SU webpage. We also have social events happening throughout the year (both alcohol and non-alcohol related), these events are discussed by members so any suggestions are welcome.

Do you fancy yourself as a modern day Robin Hood? Do you want to learn to shoot as well as Katniss? Then why don’t you come along to one of our sessions, they are always open to new shooters. You can also contact us on our Facebook group, Twitter and Instagram.
