With the opportunity of serving as secretary of the UCLan Cardiology Society this academic year, running for the post of Chair is to be a natural transition for me. I hope my goals for the following year as Chair, outlined below, are worth your vote.
For the next academic year, I aim to:
- Organise a national cardiology conference in collaboration with other medical schools and sponsors. With a lot of interest in the field of cardiology within UCLan, it's surprising we haven't hosted one yet. Hosting a conference will provide a valuable opportunity for everyone to present their cardiology research, learn something new from exciting workshops and esteemed speakers, and network with students from across the country.
- A career workshop with cardiologists, discussing pathways within cardiology both in and out of the UK.
- Continue and expand the successful teaching series' we ran this year to better address topics that each year is learning, as they learn it.
- A local cardiovascular health event with interactive activities and exercise sessions, to demonstrate and teach regarding the cruciality of nutrition and exercise, which are overlooked within the medical curriculum.
If these any of these ideas resonate with you, do consider voting for me as Chair! I would be glad to hear your ideas as well.
