The interim year of the Society has slowly taken shape, and now everything is officially in place! I have been working alongside the SU, lecturers, and Liverpool University to ensure that the years to follow run smoothly.

It is my view that the coming year of the Veterinary Society will be something we can all enjoy, but I can't do that alone - with help from our members, I'd like to arrange bi-weekly events dedicated to boosting socialisation. In the new term, I plan to host a vote for the members to decide what they wish to do in Vet Soc events, as opposed to being a closed committee decision - this will help turn our society into a community, as it should always be.

Second, with the new cohort due September, we welcome the next generation of vet students to UCLan; it is my outlook to turn this into something beneficial for both ourselves and the new-comers by offering support through our learning journeys.

Most exciting of all, I have recently been in talks with our neighbours, Liverpool Vet School; soon, we hope to arrange an event we've branded "The Vet Cup", a friendly, annual competition between both schools. Going on to our second year, it is my objective to solidify these plans to create a strong bond between both schools for not only our time at Lancashire, but for decades to follow. University should be a place of expanding our horizons beyond our own campus. Let's make it happen!

Yours sincerely,

Liam Laing
