As your social sec i would like to see the society gain more independance from the vet school itself and really embrace the 'for students by students' format i feel we should have. I am aware on Wednesdays, many of you have other social commitmens to sports teams or other societies, so i would like to run a VetSoc social every other Wednesday, to allow people to take part without neglecting other societies. Other events I have in mind include BBQ's, excursions and other activities, but my list isn't set in stone and would love to hear your suggestions too!
I would really like to see the whole vet school be involved in the VetSoc. This means BVMS, BioVets and Foundation courses too and endeavour to listen to the wants and needs of all of our courses to find solutions that can work for everyone. I believe that engagement throughout the school is very important as the majority of us are here for a long time and this way we can become a truly social veterinary network. On a final note, I personally, and i'm sure plenty of you feel the same way, would like to see some VetSoc branded merch appearing. I'll be making some quarter zip fleeces and maybe a hot drinks holder or two available to our members, so hopefully these, and my ambitions listed above are enough to make me your 2024/25 VetSoc Social Sec!
