Gaming can be a casual, fun past time, or it can be a fast-fuelled and competitively-driven environment – whichever sounds more like you, I want to help make that happen!

Some of you may know me as kazemaru on the server. I would like to grow the society, mainly via community nights, whether fun cooperative games like Fall Guys, to customs for CS, or in-person watch parties – all voted for by society members.

I started my PhD this January and since then, I have won the NSE Spring Women and Non-Binary Valorant Cup, as well as coming 3rd place in the NUEL equivalent. As you might be able to tell, esports forms a big part of my life outside of university, but I would like it to have a bigger role within the society itself, by pushing for our society to be able to form teams competitively and also for fun. Everyone starts somewhere!

Essentially, my goals within the society would be:

  • Increase the social media presence of the society
  • Run more inclusive society nights, to bring together current members and expand our reach
  • Introduce esports to UCLAN (and work up to having a varsity event against Lancaster University)
  • Help to give opportunities to people who are interested in other areas of gaming, such as coaching, casting/commentating, graphic design, social media management, etc.
