Kershaun Mathew

Hi,

My name is Kershaun Mathew and I am running for Chair of the Undergraduate Medical Research Society. Prior to starting university, I worked closely with professors at the University of Hong Kong to collect and present data on the susceptibility of transport drivers to COVID-19. In the past year, I was also given the opportunity to create and present a poster regarding the relationship between the Social Determinants of Health and Asthma. These experiences ensure I am well-versed in the procedures involved in publishing research. As the Co-vice Chair of this committee last year, I was extensively involved in the planning and co-ordinating of several events hosted by the society. With this experience, I hope to continue my work with the society to make research more accessible to not only students of UCLan, but also the wider society.

Together with Leha, who is running for Vice Chair of this society, we plan to:

1. Organise STEM teaching sessions for high school students in Burnley.

2. Organise introductory sessions into processing with SPSS and R.

3. Host another research skills workshop to develop academic literacy for UCLan students.

4. Collaborate with other universities to organise poster competitions and conferences for participation of UCLan students.

Thank you so much! Please vote for us.
