Hi, I am Leha Mahesh Kumar (Leha) and I am running as Vice-Chair for the Cardiothoracic Society. I was the Preston Campus Representative of this committee last year where I played my role in organizing suture workshops and teaching sessions which conveys I am well-versed with the proceedings of the society and thus, want to create better and positive changes.
Along with Jayantika, who is running as the Chair for this committee, we plan on doing the following:
- Suture skills workshops - basics and advanced taught and delivered by surgeons and peers
- Cardiothoracic research projects - 2 projects underway with student allocation open
- Portfolio talks from CS surgeons with the opportunity for one-on-one feedback for your portfolio
- Workshops focused on surgical anatomy of the heart and hopefully dissections
- In-person OSCE simulation workshops toward the end of the academic year to help with the finals
- Phase 1 teaching sessions
- Conferences and workshops in collaboration with other universities with CPD points
