Hello CathSoc members,
My name is Elysha Vericio. I’m currently in my 2nd year of Pharmacy at UCLan. Before moving to Preston, I was born and raised in Warrington, but I am a proud Filipino. Since joining CathSoc last year, I have grown in my understanding of and relationship with God, made many wonderful friendships, and became more active in participating at Church. For example, being a Lector Reader during Mass. I have also done a presentation on the Holy Spirit after completing the Philip’s Course in Barmouth.
As CathSoc’s Secretary I aim to:
- Welcome in more student members to create a diverse and harmonious community to share in our faith and interests.
- Liaise with our CathSoc Committee, UCLan chaplaincy and local church in organising events, volunteering opportunities, and fun activities like trips and retreats.
- Encourage more students and staff to come to Wednesday’s Mass or Bible Study in the Oasis Centre.
- Support students in developing their faith, explore any questions or concerns you may have, and promote positive well-being for all.
- Most of all I would like to foster good fellowship within CathSoc, in which everyone feels safe, respected, and understood. It is important to me that everyone has a happy place to turn to when you want to relax from the stresses of studying and other responsibilities.
