Hello everyone, I am Leha Mahesh Kumar (Leha) and I am running for Vice Chair for the Undergraduate Medical Research Society. Research has been my passion and I believe it forms the very base of medicine as it is an ever-evolving field.

In 2021, before starting university, I worked with professors at SRMC, Chennai, India to help collect data to write a systematic review on how people's functionality changed after being affected by COVID-19. To keep my passion going, I am currently working with my colleagues at the university to write a literature review. I was also the Social- Secretary of this committee last year where I played an integral role in conducting workshops, and conferences, providing platforms for networking and publicizing events on social media. All these experiences will enable me to do and give my best as a Vice-Chair to this society for the upcoming year thus making it a place for nurturing research-related ideas.

Together with Kershaun, who is running for Chair of this society, we plan to:

  1. Organise STEM teaching sessions for high school students in Burnley and Westlakes
  2. Organise introductory sessions into processing with SPSS and R.
  3. Host another research skills workshop to develop academic literacy for UCLan students.
  4. Collaborate with other universities to organize poster competitions and conferences for the participation of UCLan students.

Thank you so much! Please vote for us.
