Sexual Health Awareness Group (S.H.A.G.)
* Applications for new S.H.A.G. volunteers now Open *
This project has a pot of funding for students to use to run sexual health events and campaigns decided by you and your fellow students
This opportunity is for volunteers looking to be involved in the Sexual Health Project for 2023-2024. In 2017 volunteers started the Sexual Health Awareness Group and put together a series of postcards and goody bags which they then took out across campus to speak to students about sexual health services available across Preston. Since then the project has developed in a number of ways and volunteers have been involved in fundraising for charity, assisting at HIV Testing events, running stalls on topics such as LGBT history, as well as creating a number of fun, informative resources.
The project is a safe and inclusive space where all individuals can feel comfortable discussing sexual health topics. We respect diversity and strive to create an environment that fosters open communication.
What can you get involved with ?
Organize Workshops and Events: Volunteers will plan and host workshops, seminars, and events to look at various aspects of sexual health. Topics could include safe sex practices, the importance of regular check-ups, and the promotion of healthy relationships.
Distribute Information: Develop and distribute informative materials, such as brochures, posters, and online content. Use social media platforms and other communication channels to reach a wider audience.
Host Awareness Campaigns: Organise awareness campaigns throughout the academic year. Promoting events such as world AIDs day, where you can engage with the student body and provide information on sexual health.
** You do not need to have a background in sexual health as full training will be given.**
