This opportunity is for current UCLan students who wish to volunteer with a Students' Union Inspiring Project.
The Zero Waste Area has been established in the Union Shop as a new initiative for 2019-20 with funding from NUS Student Eats.
A zero waste shop, in essence, is a plastic-free shop. Our Zero Waste Area is part of our Union Shop and sells wholefoods and other eco-friendly products completely plastic free!
We are now looking for a team of student volunteers to act as a steering group / committee, helping staff decide what products should be stocked, and where profits should be spent. The Zero Waste Area is a social enterprise and all profits will be used for social and/or environmental purposes (this may include reinvestment back into the enterprise).
Are you interested in nutrition and health promotion? This experience will create an ideal starting point for building up your CV in this area.
You could also gain experience in marketing, food safety, food hygiene and display, customer service, and teamwork.
You will be provided with advice and guidance on the finance side of the enterprise which will also improve your skills in these areas.
Working as part of a team can help you make friends and improve mental health and wellbeing.
If you're interested, please sign up here and we'll be in touch with more details.
