UCLan’s Students’ Union have been running Student-Led Teaching Awards for 10 years now as a way to allow students to voice their opinions on what great teaching, support and services look like. It is a really positive way to celebrate staff’s successes as well as to encourage good practice throughout the university.
The Golden Roses awards, an annual event, which sees staff awarded for specific categories and presented at an awards event held in April.
For these awards, winners are decided by a panel of student representatives and the VP Education, who analyse the nominations against a set criteria. Winners are therefore chosen based on the quality of the nomination as opposed to the number the nominee receives.
Our Student-Led Teaching Awards are a chance for all UCLan students to give positive feedback to their staff and so we also extend the awards to our partner colleges Myerscough, Burnley and Runshaw who now run their own Golden Roses events in partnership with the Students’ Union.
