Hey! I’m Hannah, the Students' Union’s elected Media Officer.

I’m a UCLan graduate with a BA (Hons) Film Production with Film & Media degree. Alongside my degree, I was a student media volunteer myself and ran in the union’s elections to help develop and improve student media.

It's part of my role to help lead and support Pulse Media.

Pulse Radio – your student radio

Pulse TV – your student TV station

The Pulse – your student newspaper

This year I’m focusing on bringing a student media strategy to the union so that media has a plan set in place and a focus for at least the next three years. Alongside that I’m implementing a more effective training programme for all media editors and managers so they not only have a better experience but also feel more comfortable in their roles. Finally, my last big thing is creating a student media conference here at UCLan SU with guest speakers from the industry, workshops and Q&A’s for students to attend.

The biggest thing I’m bringing forward from last year is the change to student media, it’s a goodbye to Pluto, Frequency Radio and PSTV and a huge hello to Pulse Media (Pulse TV, Pulse Radio and The Pulse.) That means we have new studio spaces, a new brand and of course a fresh start! Alongside that we were also nominated in the Student Publication Association for Best Sports Coverage as well as winning a National Student Television Association Award for Best Writing.

So, if you fancy yourself as the next big name journalist, famous radio presenter or great filmmaker then student media is for you! It’s not a necessity that you’re on a media course, all you need is some enthusiasm!

We’ve got everything from being a reporter, a presenter, being part of a filming crew or even our promotions team. All you need to do is get in touch!
