Find out more about some of the Welfare campaigns I'm working on.
This semester we have many campaigns happening within the Students’ Union that you can get involved with.
First of all, we have a “Let’s Talk About Consent” workshop which we are hoping to be a peer-led workshop with staff support. This will give students the opportunity to learn and ask questions about consent and safe sexual practices.
We also have our annual Pride event which is being led by students for students. This is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of past LGBTQ+ activists with events also taking place celebrating LGBTQ+ culture throughout February and ending with the main event on Tuesday 22nd February.
In March we are relaunching our “Talking Matters” campaign which is targeted towards our Black and Asian student community and encouraging them to access the University’s Counselling & Mental Health Support Services, as they are the least likely to do so. We are also going to be creating a survivor wall, to be filled with positive affirmations and support towards our victim survivors of sexual/domestic abuse.
And finally, I am working on an international students’ welcome pack to help international students better integrate into university life. This is something that will be able to be updated regularly as information is updated.
I can’t wait for you all to see this!
