Massive congratulations to the teams who have made it to the Conference Cup Finals this year!

For the first time in many years, we have three teams who have reached this stage of the competition at once- Women’s Football 1st, Men’s Basketball 1st and Golf 3rds.

Well done to all our teams who have competed throughout the year. You’ve made the Students’ Union so proud, however many wins you achieved at competition. It’s been great to see you get back on the pitch/court/course for 2021/22!

Your basketball team had this to say:

“We’ve worked hard and come a long way as a team, but we’re looking forward to finishing the job and hopefully bringing home the trophy!”

Joe Heyes

(Basketball Men’s 1st Vice Captain)

"Going into the cup finals undefeated with a 12 and 0 record is a great achievement, this is largely due to the level of commitment and effort from all members involved in the club, both on and off the court.

There has been a great feel and atmosphere around the basketball club this year, membership has been higher than ever as things get back to normal from covid, every session has been packed and really intense. There has even been great support from people down to watch the fixtures on a Wednesday evening, this has really given the players a lift, especially in the semi-final against Durham, the crowd made it feel like we had a real home court advantage.

Also it's been great that many of the players have also represented Preston Basketball Clubs National league team or the MABL 1st team (who are also currently undefeated).  Over 8 UCLan players have also represented Preston Basketball providing more opportunities then ever to play  or watch basketball in and around the wider UCLAN community. As a result the basketball community in and around UClan is growing in strength and popularity."
