Notice about Students’ Union Advice Centre

July and August are always very busy months for our Advice Centre. Each enquiry through to the Advice Centre becomes a case in our system with access to dedicated support and specialist advice. Given the last 18 months, we are currently experiencing a particularly high number of students requiring support and advice.

It is fundamental to our service that we provide accurate and timely advice to support our students. Over the last few months, our small team of four advisors have found this continually difficult to respond and resolve enquires in a prompt manner. This is due to the volume and complex nature of enquiries coming into the Advice Centre.

To ensure the team is able to catch-up on workload and manage the current high-volume of complex cases effectively, we have taken the difficult decision that from 5pm, Friday 30th July we will pause our support for new students’ cases and enquiries for one week.

Student enquiries to the Advice Centre during this period will be addressed and responded to from Monday 9th August.

This is not a decision that has been taken lightly and we are aware it could lead to further frustration and distress from our student members. However, due to the significant workload levels the intervention is required to ensure we continue to provide a professional and timely service to students. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we continue to work through this.

Please note: All on-going enquiries and cases will continue to be supported as normal. We ask that students currently accessing support with an open case from an advisor to continue to respond promptly when asked questions or sent information.

You may find the support you’re looking for to answer your query on the Advice section of the Students’ Union website – www.uclansu.co.uk/gethelp.
