We’re excited to announce a brand-new Inspiring Project for you to get involved with this year.

Hedgehog Friendly Campus is a national accreditation programme funded by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society (BHPS). We’re looking for students to sign up and  volunteer to help turn our campus into a Hedgehog Friendly Campus!

This initiative spans across the UK with lots of Universities, FE colleges and primary schools taking part, completing activities that help to bring hedgehogs back from the brink. Since 2019, the programme has worked with over 150 educational institutions, all working towards Bronze, Silver or Gold accreditation. Teams have been installing log piles and hedgehog houses, as well as litter picking and taking part in campus hedgehog surveys.

Other activities students will be taking part in include:

  • Bug house building
  • Pond ramps
  • Hedgehog highways
  • Fundraising events for the BHPS
  • Hedgehog first aid sessions

The nationwide Hog Friendly litter pick challenge will be our first event on the 6th of October. You can find more details about this event here!

Volunteering for any of our Inspiring Projects means you’ll be eligible to work towards the Livesey Award! This award recognises your hard-work and efforts as a volunteer and can even be included on your HEAR transcript when you graduate.
