Players old and new from our longest standing Student Union League Team recently came together to celebrate the 10th Year of the Team’s existence.
The game featured players from through the team’s 2011-2021 history.
‘North End Galacticos’ were formed by UCLan alumni Tony Davies and a group of his friends in 2011 and have since become a mainstay of our 11-a-side competition. During their time they have gained 4 League Titles, the SUL Shield and the inaugural ‘Summer League’ in 2021. In 2016 they were selected to represent the Sudents’ Union at the annual Varsity event with Edge Hill and ran out winners.
Though management of the team is taken up by current students, The team’s creator Tony still helps out!
He said:
“Agreeing to captain the team in 2011 and helping it to continue after I graduated in 2014 are two of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm grateful for all the incredible people I've met as a result. Seeing how much everyone enjoys these reunions only reiterates my belief that the last 10 years have been time well spent.”
Congratulations to the team for their extended success. It’s great to see student led teams celebrating milestones like these. Long may it continue!
