Zones

The Students’ Union has set up three open recurring meetings, themed around different elements of articulating the student voice. The purposes of these meetings, is to give all students an opportunity to help shape and enhance the student experience. Whilst discussing the ideas we’ll also eat pizza provided by our Zones sponsors Dominos. Each Zone covers certain themes:

Better Union discussion may include themes around getting students active within their Union through, but not limited to, student media, fundraising, volunteering, sport clubs, societies and demonstrations.
Meeting 20 Sept, 21 Feb 2013, 30 April
Better University discussion may include themes around student rights, liberation, course reps and academic experience issues.
Meeting 17  Sep, 18 Feb 2013, 29 April
Better Community discussion may include themes around students making a positive impact in their local community, hall rep initiatives, ethical behaviour and community cohesion.
Meeting 25 Sept, 12 Feb 2013, 23 April

*Free Pizza and Drinks at all meetings. All meetings start at 6pm in the Opportunities Centre*

Each Zone will be chaired by an SAC member and will meet at least four times a year with any student having the opportunity to bring an idea to the zone. Depending on the nature of the idea and consensus of those in the room, the idea may be taken forward for discussion at a Students’ Council meeting or resolved directly by members of the SAC team. Please note all ideas must be submitted four university days before each meeting.
