Course Rep Academy nominated for national award
The Course Rep Academy has been nominated for ‘Innovative Student Engagement’ by NUS.
The National Union of Students (NUS) has announced that UCLan Students’ Union Course Rep Academy has been nominated in the NUS Higher Education Awards for ‘Innovative Student Engagement.’
The Course Rep Academy offers a series of training modules to help aide the development and employability of Course Reps focusing on key transferable skills including time management, leadership and networking.
Depending on the number of modules completed, reps in the academy can then get one of three different awards which are all endorsed by an external Institute of Leadership and Management Training Centre.
Becca Vafeas, the Education Officer said, “ Its brilliant to see the Academy shortlisted for an NUS award. This year is the first year we’ve run it, so for it to already be recognised nationally is amazing. It’s turned out to be even better than we originally though, and that’s not only down to some brilliant work by Martin Dodd, our Course Rep Coordinator, who has been running it, but also the students who have taken part. Each one of them are the reason its worked so well. If we win, I’ll be over the moon. If we don’t, I’m still amazingly proud that we were shortlisted.”
The Union President, Reni Eddo-Lodge added, “This is great news and a real testament to the strength and dedication of the Student Voice team over the years- amazing evidence of delivering for students!"
