Create Change…
At the heart of being a course representative is creating positive change for everyone on your course. It allows you to make real changes that can change a module as you are studying it or improve the course for the benefit of future years. The role itself is a rewarding one when embraced the most and, as outlined below, develops key skills and relationships that can go on to benefit study and working life.

Develop Employability Skills…
As a course representative you will gain lots of experience that will be relevant to your working life, such as, developing key skills in communication, networking, public speaking, campaigning, leadership and time management to name a few!
You will also gain knowledge about UCLan and about how Higher Education is run. As well as this, all new course representatives will be offered training on how to be an effective representative. Further, if you want to learn more you can participate in the Course Rep Academy (recently NUS HE Awards nominee), a year round optional training schedule in which those who complete  a minimum number of sessions receive an endorsed certificate from an institute of Leadership and Management Training Centre.

Meet New Friends…
Becoming a course representative is an excellent way to make new friends across the University. The Students’ Union organise numerous events and socials throughout the year starting with basic training for all representatives in October and ending with an awards evening in April! Also for the first time this year the Students’ Union has committed to organising a Course Rep Conference in November providing ample opportunity for course reps to network and share experiences.
