The winner of the ‘Big Vote’ is…
Over three days, 2735 voted in the first ever ‘Big Vote’ with the winning campaign being to bring back the Gilbertson Excellence Scholarship award.

2735 tokens were used over three days for the first ‘Big Vote.’
The award was available to all UK and EU students who achieved a first class honours degree who were then going to take on either a full-time or part-time Masters Course or Postgraduate Research Programme but was subsequently withdrawn.
There were six ideas which received the following share of the votes:

Lee Mac, the Campaigns Officers said,
“All summer I have been online asking students to become more involved with student led campaigning. And that is what they have done. Over the course of a 3 day period, new and returning students - have voted in their thousands. The winning idea which will now be a campaign is the Gilbertson Scholarship award. This idea was mentioned to me by a few students. The one student who submitted the overall idea was Abbey Wardle. I will now work with Abbey to drum up support and engage students. Hopefully we can succeed with this and bring the campaign to life.
The BIG vote will return in semester 2, so if you have an idea wished to be submitted. Contact me, sucampaigns@uclan.ac.uk until then, we are continuously accepting ideas to make life better for students, through our three zones meetings – Better Community, Better Union and Better University which are your chance to submit and discuss your ideas whilst feasting on pizza from our Zone sponsors Dominos.”
