What have you graduated in? Television Production
What's your hometown? Darlington, County Durham
What have you previously been involved in at the Union? Poker Society
Why did you stand for election? I believed the Union needed to take a forward step and with my confidence and leadership skills I believe I have the potential to represent UCLan students on a national scale and put the Union on the map. I felt the students needed a leader who they could trust and rely on to stick to his motives.
What does your role involve? It is my role to ensure all of the Union’s processes’ function in unity with one another to continue the way the Union is run and provide students with a greater opportunity to voice their opinions. I can then take these issues to the University board and senior management team. I am here to lead the Union, responsible for liaising with the University and local community and acting as a spokesperson for students to these groups. It is my responsibility to ensure the Board of Trustees, Student Affairs Committee (SAC), elections and referendums function as effectively as possible. I am also responsible for the development and activities for representatives on the following forums: Burnley, West Lakes, Partner Colleges and Halls of Residence.
Your three main priorities for the year ahead are... I want to see more involvement from the Union in prestigious national awards, such as the National Union of Students (NUS) Awards. I aim develop the services on offer to students both in the Mall area of the Union and the empty retail units along the front of the building. I will act on student views, to make sure the Union works as well as it can to represent students and make their lives better.

What have you graduated in? Archaeology
What's your hometown? Buxton, Derbyshire
What have you previously been involved in at the Union? I was a Course representative for archaeology for three years, a faculty rep for science and technology, Student Council member and NUS conference delegate.
Why did you stand for election? I got so much out of volunteering during my time as a student and worked my way up the volunteer ladder (Course rep to faculty rep to student council member) so running for the Student Affairs Committee was a natural progression. I also wanted to give something back and make sure students get as fulfilling a time out of university as I did.
What does your role involve? What the students will see me doing is training the course reps and making sure the system works efficiently, as well as setting up brand new forums for schools reps, mature and post graduate students. What many students won’t see me doing but which is a vital part of the job is sitting on university committees such as the Academic Board, making sure the student voice is heard at the highest level. I will be validating new courses and periodically reviewing current ones and compiling a student written submission as part of the Universities audit. I will be campaigning for students on academic issues which matter to them both locally and nationally, for example the ongoing debate with tuition fees.
Your three main priorities for the year ahead are... Establishing the schools rep, mature and post graduate forums, training course reps and making sure they are utilised to their full potential and most importantly, representing students.

What have you graduated in? Forensic Science
What's your hometown? Leicester
What have you previously been involved in at the Union? I was part of the hockey team committee.
Why did you stand for election? I wanted to get more involved with the Union and I wanted to do something positive for my fellow students.
What does your role involve? I help set up a diverse range of activities for our membership to take part in including sporting, social and Give it a Go projects. I support all student volunteers, which can include assisting them in setting up their own groups, events, fundraising and helping them to organise their finances.
Your three main priorities for the year ahead are... My main aim is to make Give it a Go a sustainable project as this is the single event that can reach out to the largest and most diverse amount of our student membership in one go. I will continually give the best support possible to all of our student volunteers, starting with thorough in-house training at the very start of the year right through to de-briefing and helping them to create a great handover for their student groups. I want attract more sponsorship for the vast amount of events that we put on in student involvement, in order to develop these and make them bigger and better for all students involved.

Studying? Graphic Design
What's your hometown? Barnstaple, north Devon.
What have you previously been involved in at the Union? Among smaller jobs such as being part of the NUS Card allocation team, and part of Freshers' Fayre, I have worked at Source for three years (as supervisor for one). In a voluntary capacity, I have worked for Pluto, and photographed events in 53 Degrees. I have also been a member of the Film Society, Snowboard Club and the Rock and Thrash Society.
Why did you stand for election? I had a lot of ideas for improving the Union’s media, and the belief that I could carry these ideas out well. I also wanted there to be a more diverse range of interests represented in the Union’s media.
What does your role involve? My job is to maintain and enhance the quality of Pluto and PR1, the media's fortnightly publications, and to improve the radio station, Frequency. PSTV, our TV station is new this year, and I will also be supporting this growth.
Your three main priorities for the year ahead are... My first priority is to make the experience of the media's volunteers as good as I can. The volunteers in the Union’s media give up so much of their free time that this should be recognised, so their working conditions will be upgraded. Second is to increase the variety of interests represented, and third is to ensure PSTV's first year is as productive as it can be.

Studying? Politics, religious culture and society
What's your hometown? Preston
What have you previously been involved in at the Union? I was a course rep in my first year, then became a faculty rep which got me a seat on Student Council. I was then elected to the executive (now the Student Affairs Committee) as a part-time officer. I have also represented UCLan students at four national student conferences. As well as this I have written for the student newspaper, Pluto, and been a member of the LGBT society.
Why did you stand for election? I stood because I wanted to change things. I wanted to make life better for students but also wanted to change how things were done on the executive. Last year we did a good job but we needed a change of direction so that students can feel a part of the process.
What does your role involve? Getting the new forums working and getting groups and minorities involved in the union. I will be in charge of the Womens’, Black and Minority Ethnic (BME), Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans (LGBT), Disabled students, Environment and an International students forums. I am also here to represent and fight for all these groups of students if they have any problems.
Your three main priorities for the year ahead are… Getting more students involved with the Union, getting the Union more involved in national campaigns (which will raise our profile and get more students involved) and supporting and fighting for groups that I am responsible for as well as the whole student body on issues such as top-up fees.
