fairOUR COMMITMENT TO

FAIR TRADE

The University and Union commit to achieving the five goals set by the Fairtrade Foundation in order to be recognised as a Fair Trade University and increase consumption of fair trade products.

 

We will do this by taking the following steps:

  1. 1- We will make Fairtrade products available for sale in all campus retail and catering outlets.

     

    2- When making purchasing decisions we will consider whether there is a suitable Fairtrade products available. Furthermore we will promote to respective collective purchasing organisations and suppliers the need to source and supply Fairtrade products.

     

    3-Fairtrade products will be available through University hospitality catering to all Faculties, departments and services.

     

    4-The University and the Student Union will promote the sale of Fairtrade products via the following methods:

  • Articles and other appropriate material promoting Fairtrade products will be included in the student newspaper, Students' Union website and other union media and on the University's website and in student and staff communications including the prospectus.
  • The University and Union commits to a series of promotional and campaign events during the Fairtrade Fortnight (March).
  • Displaying fair trade foundation promotional materials on notice-boards promoting our commitment to Fairtrade and ensuring that POS Materials featuring the Fairtrade mark will be displayed in every place where Fairtrade foods are sold.
