Welcome to all new students

student gets sweets at intro fair 2008

Great events lined up for new students during Intro 2009

You've worked hard for your results, you've battled through clearing or you've found your way through a foundation course. Now is the time you can celebrate being a student at UCLan.

The Students' Union has put together some fantastic events over September and October to keep you entertained as you settle into student life. We've also got some great advice for you as a new student to help you find your way and be in the know during your first few weeks.

At Accommodation Weekend the Union is giving you the chance to meet other new students, have a BBQ and get involved with a giant bungee game - all at SUnday on Sunday 13th September.

Over the first Saturday and Sunday there are two opener events at 53 Degrees, with the biggest on the Sunday night - the official Opener and the start of the entertainment for the week to come.

Thursday 17th September sees the biggest event of the Intro period as Intro Fair comes to 53 Degrees from 10 AM. There will be loads of companies offering you the chance to see what they are about and what they can offer students. It's followed in the evening by the first Promo of the year, Preston's biggest student clubnight throws opens its doors from 9.30 PM at 53 Degrees.

Student Activities Fair follows up on Wednesday 23rd September from 11 AM in 53 Degrees. This is your chance to join sports clubs, societies and student media. Make sure you bring some cash along and your UCLan corporate/library card.

In this economic climate we know some of you will be wanting to get jobs while at university, so we put on the Jobs Fair on Thursday 24th September from 11 AM in the Students' Union Mall. We bring together employers so you can meet them and see if there's any work out there.

Student Life Fair gives a chance for you to see what the University can offer you. It's an opportunity to see what all those services do and figure out how you can make the most of them, after all you're paying over £3,000 a year (some of you more than this) to be here. Student Life Fair is in 53 Degrees from 11 AM on Thursday 1st October.
