Three new societies start

More societies affiliated to the Union

Three new societies have been setup at the Union as the list of societies grows ever longer.

Speak Out, Student Left Network and Worldwise Samba Drumming have all started up this semester.

Speak Out aims to give each student within the social science department a chance meet up to discuss and gain knowledge of the subjects that they are learning and also to have an awareness of the diverse culture we live in, and to resolve any issues that have arisen if possible.

The Student Left Network will discuss, debate and organise amongst the student population to enhance political awareness. They also intend to develop a network to connect students with progressive inclinations.

Worldwise Samba Drumming is an exciting opportunity to create links between different cultures within the UCLan community and give students the opportunity to learn a new skill (samba drumming). Students would also learn about samba and its cultural origins and increase awareness of world music. The overall goal is to create a performance band which would entertain at events.

To join any of these new societies visit the Student Involvement and Development Centre on the ground floor of the Union building or email suclubsandsocs@uclan.ac.uk for more details.
