Results of 2009 by-election

Three students elected to Students' Council

Three students have been successfully elected to Students' Council in the 2009 by-election.

The result of the election has the following as new student representatives:

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender representative: Lee Bradshaw

Black Students' representative: Imran Khan

Womens' representative: Joanne Hume

The turnout for the by-election was 156 students registering their vote via a new online voting system.

The number of votes were:

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender representative

Lee Bradshaw (85 votes) defeated Re-open nominations (11 votes)

Womens' representative

Joanne Hume (63 votes) defeated Re-open nominations (3 votes)

Black Students' representative

Imran Khan (66 votes) defeated Lebo Sehlabo (64 votes). Re-open nominations was eliminated in the first round of voting.
