What’s the first thing you think of when you hear pole dancing.... strippers?

Not anymore, the UCLan ladies have been giving it a whirl for this year’s Give It A Go event and it went down a storm.

The event took place on Monday February 2nd 2009 and attracted over 50 students (all girls) down to Total Fitness gym to try out the sexy way to keep fit.

Georgina Hunter, 21, third year police and criminal investigations student said: "It’s really fun and completely different to anything I’ve ever tried, it looks really easy but I’ve used muscles today I never knew I had."

The taster sessions lasted an hour and involved the participants performing a vigorous warm up followed by some ‘pole’ practice and then a relaxing warm down.

Lisa Lewis-Reens, 22, third year police and criminal investigations student said: "I didn’t really know what to expect from today but I thought I’d ‘give it a go’ and it was really good, I’d definitely do it again."
