Get involved with student life

Opportunities to boost your CV and meet people
Now you've settled in it's time to start getting involved. The Union has loads of ways for students to get involved and both improve their employability and meet loads of new people.
You can join one of our many sports clubs, playing both recreational sport and also in the BUCS Championships against other universities across the UK.
Societies are a great way of sharing your passions and hobbies, with something for everyone from drama to the Christian Union.
We know that joining a club or society can be a big commitment, so now there is Give It A Go. Your chance to try loads of different activities on a low-cost, no strings basis. From a survival weekend to pole dancing, you won't be bored.
If you want to get involved in the media, student media is the place to start. With our fortnightly newspaper, Pluto, our internet radio station, Frequency and internet TV station Preston Student Television - we constantly need volunteers.
Becoming a course representative is one of the easiest ways to get involved. Through this you represent the views of your course mates and help to improve and shape your course throughout the year. You're paying for your education, so make sure you're getting the most what you want.
Joining a student forum is a good way to get involved in the political side of the Union and have a say about the issues that matter to you as students. Forums are informal groups that meet and help shape campaigning policy.
Become a student trustee and you could add some serious weight to your CV, and also help to decide the future of the Union.
Whatever you decide do, make sure you get involved and the Student Affairs Committee are here to help you do that. You never know, you could end up standing for election in 2010 and help lead the Union.
