More medals for the Kung Fu club
Hung Kuen Shaolin Kung Fu National Championships
On 6th December 2009 the UCLan Kung Fu Club participated in the first Hung Kuen Shaolin Kung Fu National Championships of the year. We competed in both Forms, including Animal Forms, and Sparring, against clubs from Lough Borough University, Manchester and Leeds Met University.
The Club's members demonstrated forms to an excellent standard winning UCLan 4 Gold medals and 1 Silver medal,. Two members of the team participated in the Sparring competition, fighting their way to victory earning 1 Gold medal each.
A breakdown of medal winners are as follows:
David Arrowsmith - 1 Gold (Tiger Form) and 1 Silver (Tan Tui 3,4,5 Forms)
Anna Tindall - 1 Gold (Tan Tui 1 Form)
Adam Terech - 1 Gold (Individual Sparring)
Lee Chester - 2 Gold (Snake Form and Individual Sparring) and 1 Silver (Dragon Form)
The Club has yet to break its record medal haul of 21 medals gained in May 2009, however, the Club is hopeful we will be able to beat this is May 2010!
In February 2010 taster classes will be available for students to come and 'Give It A Go'! We hope to see many new faces there!
