What have you graduated in/are you studying?
I have just graduated in BA Journalism.
What's your hometown?
Tuxford, the quiet little village next to where Robin Hood lives.
What have you previously been involved in at the Union?
I worked at Source bar for a very enjoyable year and a half, where I only managed to break three glasses! Also every Wednesday I ran around a field attempting to play hockey (not very well!) as a member of the Hockey Club, of which I was social secretary for in my second year. I was also a course rep for Journalism for two of my three years.
Why did you stand for election?
I stood for election because the past three years, as cliché as it may sound, have been the best of my life, and this is mainly down to my involvement in the Union. I believe too many students are unaware of the services that the Union offers, from the recreational to the informed advice. My motivation in standing was to change this. I want to make sure that each student that comes to UCLan gets the top quality education they deserve and that top quality student experience, getting as much out of the Union as they can.
What does your role involve?
My role is to closely liaise with the university on all student issues, making sure that the student voice is represented on the many committees I chair and sit on. I also act as a spokesperson for the Union on a local and national level, and help ensure that the Union functions work in unity with one another.
Your three main priorities for the year ahead are...
Most of my priorities for the year ahead will be ‘behind the scenes’ so to speak, as I will be working hard to establish a full board of trustees as the union becomes a charity from this November. We also have a new campus launching in Burnley so I will be working hard to help make sure that the opening in September, and its first year in operation, goes to plan. As well as this I want to increase the engagement of students at our affiliated Partner Institutions, and raise awareness to the services that they are entitled too at the Preston Campus.

What have you graduated in/are you studying?
I have just graduated in Police and Criminal Investigations with a 1st!
What's your hometown?
The Mighty Fax a.k.a Halifax in West Yorkshire.
What have you previously been involved in at the Union?
I’ve been an active member of the hockey club throughout my time at UCLan (I would recommend anyone to join a sports team) and was also employed at 53 Degrees for two years where I saw some great gigs for free!
Why did you stand for election?
To be involved in the Students Union as an elected officer is a fantastic opportunity and great experience. I’ve seen how the ethos of the Union has changed dramatically during my time as a student as the focus has now clearly shifted to academic quality as tuition fees have increased. We now have a fantastic relationship with the University and it’s a brilliant year to be involved.
What does your role involve?
As Education Officer I am here to provide support for you on anything academic related, both institutionally and nationally. The Education Officer is responsible for the development, training and support of the course rep network, and now the school rep system too. I also sit on a large number of University Committees ensuring your voices are heard at the highest levels, and represent the student body at course validations and periodic reviews. Alongside all this I also work with the other officers as a team to oversee the running of the Union. It’s a busy job!
Your three main priorities for the year ahead are...
I want to ensure students are satisfied with the education they are receiving. This includes monitoring tutor contact time, and campaigning for anonymous marking, which I expect to be year long projects and will need lots of student support with! I will also be working on establishing student forums to make sure the student voice is heard and acted upon.

What have you graduated in/are you studying?
I have graduated in two degrees, one in Forensic Science and the other being in Archaeology.
What's your hometown?
Macclesfield
What have you previously been involved in at the Union?
I have played for the men's football team for five years in which I have been a captain and also the chairman of the club. I have worked as a doorman in 53 Degrees. I have also been involved with the activities set up by the previous Student Affairs Committee where I helped with the running of activities.
Why did you stand for election?
I stood for election because I have a genuine passion for students (I have been one for long enough!) and I felt that I could help make a difference by applying the knowledge I have learned during my time at UCLan. I am very approachable, friendly and helpful and I felt this was a key thing that any Students' Union needs and so I thought this is why I would be good at the role.
What does your role involve?
My role within the Students' Union is to set up and co-ordinate activities for all the students from across the campus to get involved with. Included in these activities are the sports clubs and societies, volunteering activities and the continuation of 'Give It A Go'. I also have a close working relationship with hundreds of students that with the help of the Students' Union run and organise the many different sports and societies that our Union has to offer all students. From being involved in these activities and from doing them I hope all the students involved will gain good experience and a great deal of confidence that can be taken forward with them into life after university. If anybody has any questions, problems or just wants a chat in general about anything I am here to help and be of assistance to all. My office is located in the Students' Union, so don't hesitate to call in. I look forward to meeting many of you and I hope you all have a great year! Most importantly don't be afraid to get involved with whatever you want to do.
Your three main priorities for the year ahead are...
To help students gain knowledge of health (and hopefully implement it upon themselves) in all senses of the word, whether it is nutrition, staying active or coping with the stresses and strains of everyday student life. The continuation of ‘Give It A Go’ and the development of the program to hopefully offer a year round set of activities aswell as the two main weeks. I also want to get as many students as possible involved with the Union and various activities no matter what!

What have you graduated in/are you studying?
I have graduated in Sports Journalism, specialising in broadcast, with a 2:1
What's your hometown?
Derby, unfortunately!
What have you previously been involved in at the Union?
In my first year I was a sports reporter for Pluto, writing match reports. On top of this I was a member of the Swim Team. In second year I became captain of the Swim Team where we had one of the most successful years in the club's history. I also got involved with Frequency in second year where I did a weekly electronic music show. In my third year I left the Swim Team so I could focus on my work with Frequency when I became co-Station Manager. I also got a job in Essentials! So nearly pretty much everyway to get involved I have done.
Why did you stand for election?
Because I had got so much out of being a volunteer myself I wanted to help "give some of that back" in a way. Student media in particular though is something that has always excited me, and I wanted to develop our already thriving media department further.
What does your role involve?
I am ultimately responsible for controlling, producing, and editing our student media outlets. So I am the Editor In-Chief of Pluto (our newspaper) and PR1 (our magazine). On top of this I am the Chief Executive of Frequency (our radio station) and PSTV (our TV station). I am also responsible for recruiting, training and developing our media volunteers, and getting them ready for the highly competitive media jobs market. On top of this I have my responsibilities as a Student Affairs Committee member were I can challenge the university and represent the voice of our students. I am also a trustee of the Students' Union which is a huge responsibility.
Your three main priorities for the year ahead are...
To increase student involvement and awareness in student media, to improve the quality of our outlets across all platforms and to challenge and be recognised as one of the best student media departments in the country. Ambitious, but achievable.

What have you graduated in/are you studying?
I have just finished studying Public Relations and Management
What's your hometown?
My hometown is Stafford, but I have grown up all over the place
What have you previously been involved in at the Union?
Before being elected as Campaigns officer, I was employed by the Union as I worked in the student shop, Essentials. I also have been a member of the Dance Club for all three years I have been a student, its good fun and a great way to meet lots of people.
Why did you stand for election?
I stood for election as I wanted to make a difference and get students involved in the union as there is so much a student can do here. I also wanted to raise the unions profile by possible getting involved with more national campaigns. I also wanted to make a difference with student safety I want students to know that they can feel safe at UCLan.
What does your role involve?
My job entails looking out for student welfare by working with the Advice Centre on such issues such as sexual health. I also run change and awareness campaigns in areas that I think will help the students. I also look after the liberation forums, these include LGBT, Women’s, Black and Ethnic Minorities (BEM), International students, Disabled and Environmental, any student can get involved in a forum and make a difference within the Union.
Your three main priorities for the year ahead are…
Safety of students, this involves working with the safety bus scheme and advice centre, health awareness campaigns, this involves mental health awareness and also working with the other members of the Student Affairs Committee to promote a healthy lifestyle for students, championing environmental issues and developing the environmental forum, organising campaigns for awareness and involving students to make the Union more environmentally friendly.
