PR1
Our student magazine, PR1, comes out every month. Like Pluto, it is distributed all around the UCLan campus, has four sections and a similar readership.
Features
Not to be confused with Pluto Features, PR1’s Features section focuses on lifestyle features and events which occur during the year (e.g. Halloween). The features in PR1 can range from studying abroad to coping with stress, there is such a scope for material within PR1 Features.
Music
PR1’s music section reviews and interviews bands which come to 53 Degrees and other local venues. The section has access to gigs in 53 Degrees, and have interviewed bands such as You Me At Six and the Pigeon Detectives. On top of this there are regular album reviews ranging from local releases to the latest Noel Gallagher record.
Ents
Ents covers a broad range of subjects in its pages. Television, film and gaming are all to be found within the section. There are reviews, previews and coverage of exhibitions which provides something for everyone.
Style
Into fashion? Then style is the place to go. With the latest in the fashion world, what’s going on locally and tips on how to recreate looks of your favourite celebrities, it’s all in these pages.
Want to get involved?
PR1 is always looking for new volunteers, so whether it’s Features, Music, Ents or Style you want to write for e-mail sumedia@uclan.ac.uk. Each section holds a regular meetings so you can find out what needs to be written and offer your own suggestions for articles. But you don’t just have to be a writer to be involved. If you want to do photography, illustrations, help run the website or even graphic design, we are more than happy to hear from you!
Former volunteers have gone on to work for national newspapers and even abroad, so volunteering for Pluto can help springboard you to bigger and better things!
