Looking for a Club or Society?
Is there something you’re passionate about? Do we have a club or society for it here within the SU? If the answer is no then why don’t you start a new group for it!
Here in the SU we have over 60 Sports Clubs and Societies available for students, but we’re always looking to ways to start up new groups. Over the freshers’ fortnight we have been asking you for your suggestions for new groups, with ideas mentioned including; Comedy Club, Orchestra, Indoor Games, Chess Club, Choir, and even a Come Dine with Me group!
All you need to do to get affiliated as a new group is to get together at least 10 members (sports teams require more) and fill in an annual plan. The annual plan is a document that just asks for some extra information about your group. The Opportunities Centre will help you if you would like to set up a Society and go to the Team UCLan Office if you want to get involved in Sport.
Any new club can apply for funding from a University scheme to get them started. Inspired Ideas is a small grant scheme that allows students to bid for up to £100 worth of funding for a specific activity or event. This could include materials or equipment for a potential new society, or promotion materials to advertise a new club. More information about the scheme, as well as the application form, is available from the Opportunities Centre.
